The Department of Foreign Affairs is urgently reviewing its travel advice for Tunisia - with fears another terrorist attack is likely.
It comes just two weeks after the Sousse beach shooting claimed the lives of an Athlone couple, a woman from Meath and 35 others.
Yesterday, Britain's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) warned against all but essential travel there, saying another terrorist attack is “highly likely”.
Thousands of British holidaymakers and staff are being evacuated from Tunisia following the announcement.
Security analyst Declan Power is also urging Irish citizens not to travel to Tunisia.
"The situation in the Middle East in general, and in Tunisia particular, is very volatile and very fluid," he said.
"People who have no direct business going there - and even those who have - should be reviewing their situation.
"Any Westerner going there at the moment is subjecting themselves to risk, and they should not go."
