Some 3,000 people were forced to abandon their dinner and drinks after a fire broke out on Centre Court. One woman was taken away from the main show court in south-west London on a stretcher.
The middle-aged casualty appeared to have injuries to her left leg and was accompanied by her worried family. The drama unfolded after an alarm went off at The Wingfield Restaurant at about 9pm. It is understood an electrical fault in the Centre Court maintenance room caused the fire to break out.
